INSPIRATION:  The softly melded center of the quilt, created with South African botanical batik fabric, invites a calm center, surrounded by brightly-lit homes, presumably full of activity, and active patterns of fabrics. Sanctuary is where we find our peace. The work is shaped like a mat upon which one could lie down and feel the pace of one’s life slowing. The outer border is an African Dutch wax resist textile with many of the smaller pieces also from African, primarily from Senegal.

DESCRIPTION:  The work is 100% cotton, machine-pieced, hand-quilted by the artist. The quilt is washable and durable.
