With a focus on the African ~ Asian
connection Ms. E has made the connection of
indigenous peoples art through the centuries her
continuous study. The blending the historical use
of ‘symbols’ adds an unexpected dimension to her
works always considered weather it is obvious or
subtle and she prefers the subtle. “ We must
remember that symbolism was our first form of
“writing”, as well as our first form of self
expression, we wore our art long before we hung it
on any walls”.
Having served as a curator to the
Augusta Savage Memorial Gallery at the University of
Massachusetts, where she along with her student
staff managed the administrative tasks of gallery
operations. Utilizing her keen eye for
presentation, combining the theatric with the visual
she created unique venue for local and nationally
know artist to exhibit their works. While at the
university she awarded an archival internship with
the Smithsonian Institute National Museum of African
Art, selected after an international search.
Ms. E has served as programs
coordinator and educational liaison for a non-profit
academy whose charter is to assist women and youth
become self-reliant. Combining her experience and
education in the fields of formal education,
computer technology, visual arts, and social service
administration, creates a diverse skills-set that
adds versatility to her artistic works as well as
her professional career. Both her artistic and
professional talents have inspired generations to
access their innate abilities as a means of “creating”
self-sufficiency. She has enthused students of all
ages--developing and delivering curriculum from
elementary to post-secondary levels of education.
Her service to the progress of quality life is
demonstrated in the many hours of volunteer service
in community programs and the promotion and
preservation of all arts. Ms. E has taken graduate
student at Arizona State University and is certified
in computer technology usage and applications.
