Life is art and art is life!

“My experiences as an oil painter and potter have culminated in creating exciting jewelry.  It gives me great joy to take my art off the wall, out of art galleries, and miniaturize it for adornment!  Created from inspirations of the heart, each jewelry piece is an original hand painted design without tracings, templates or castings.  We are individuals and each jewelry piece is individually made.  Wear your large, colorful, lightweight jewelry frequently and boldly”.

My experiences as an oil painter and potter have culminated in creating exciting jewelry.  It gives me great joy to take my art off the wall, out of art galleries, and miniaturize it for wearing.  Created from inspirations of the heart, each jewelry piece is an original hand painted design without tracings, templates, or castings.  We are individuals and each jewelry piece is individually made.  Wear your large, colorful, lightweight jewelry frequently and boldly.  Stand out from the crowd; live in the light!  Life is art and art is life!

Ruth Alexander is a Bel Canto opera singer who brings her love of fluidity of sound to her jewelry creations.   She utilizes bold color and abstract imagery in motion.  Her pieces cry out to be worn as embellishments of great beauty.  She received her B.F.A. from Elms College concentrating in Independent Studies of oils and pottery during her senior year.   Ms. Alexander minored in Music.  She lives and breathes Mozart!  Upon graduating, she received private instruction in the Bel Canto method of singing.   “Beautiful Singing”; it is a smooth, liquid, connected and effortless obstructive-free way of singing birthed and taught by Italians.  Ms. Alexander applies the Bel Canto method to her art.    Along side her development into the professional singer of today, her expertise in jewelry sculpting expanded.

Refusing to become yet another metalworking artist, Ms. Alexander’s preferred medium is fiber.  She uses basic fibers such as, paper, wood, clay etc. to create cherished one- of-a kind pieces.  Says Ms. Alexander,  “Creating art with my hands (as well as with my voice), infusing it with spiritual energy and soaring beauty, is a very powerful and emotional experience each time a new creation is born”.  Combining her love for painting with unabashed use of bright color and bold brushwork, she creates wearable art.  It gives her great pleasure to take art out of museums and galleries and give it life as adornment for 21st century wearers.
